Chapter 1 - Classic World of Warcraft Era
Blackwing Lair to Naxxramas By Loerna

The BWL Drakes. Angelic took a trip to London, and two additional priests had left the guild leaving FL in need of speedy recruitment of priests. Several were added, and used immediately in learning attempts on Firemaw who had stifled guild progress for a few weeks. After the addition of these new healers, FL was able to best Firemaw after a night of attempts, with the help of key resurrection attempts by priests who stayed out of combat during the fight (this is long before blizzard removed this option). The guild bested Ebonroc a wseek later after perfecting a tank taunting scheme and finding a suitable location to tank him, and the use of a taunting script written by Cutuun. With Ebonroc dead, the guild moved on to Flamegor and bested him the same night.

Thunderfury. With the three drakes out of the way, the guild took a night to learn Elementium smelting, and we used the time to farm elementium ore within the instance to make the bars necessary to create Cev’s Thunderfury, the first legendary item on the server, and a hallmark of FL’s progress for a long time. The entire server turned out for the event, the defeat of Thundaaran, and the forging of the weapon. FL had truly turned the corner and from here on it was clear who was the number one guild on the server.

Completing BWL: The guild took 4 nights learning the nuances of Chromaggus, learning proper positioning and how to avoid his line of sight attacks, as well as the tank rotations. This fight was quite complex in comparison to fights of the past, but it would not compare to the next. Nefarion took FL at least a month to defeat from first wipe to the final kill. Our primary failure was in controlling the adds during phase one. The tanks had immense difficulty in doing so. During that time period, Blizzard in its infinite wisdom had decided that guild may only take one attempt on Nefarion, and if we failed we had to wait for a reset to make another attempt. The ultimate kill came as a joyous event, as FL had finally beaten WoW and claimed two server first full tier 2 sets. We went on to farm the instance for a few months before we gained additional raiding content.

Zul’Gurub and the Green Dragons. FL crushed this instance, defeating all bosses inside on the first night, including a Hakkar that was horribly untested and broken. We continued to farm ZG fro many months so help everyone get the shoudler enchants. Soon thereafter, we were challenged by the green dragons: Ysondre, Lethon, Emeriss, and Taerar. FL rushed to the location of the dragon spawns every 4 days or so, trying to beat all other guilds to this outdoor content. We were successful first in defeating Ysondre, the easiest of the dragons. Taerar feel soon after. As he required only a compentent set of tanks. Emeriss at the time was a victim of an FL exploit, where we employed a shadow reflector shield to send his life draining attack back at him – not our most proud moment but it was still a kill, and we went on to kill him properly many times thereafter. The final boss was Lethon who provided the only true challenge to the guild, We bested him soon enough. We continued to farm the dragons for quite some time, amassing NR rings for use for the upcoming Ahn’Qiraj instance.

The War Effort. FL lead the way in gathering huge numbers of materials for the Ahn’Qiraj war effort. We turned in Ores, Herbs, Leather, and Cloths by the thousands. We also simultaneously spearheaded the questline that lead to the creation of the scepter. During these events, we fought the unique enemies like the Silithus Colossus, the Satyr of Dusk***d, the Goblin, and finally the Eranikus event in Moonglade. Finally after all the effort, and Dissonant’s new legendary Black Qiraji War Mount, FL could venture in AQ20 and AQ40.

Ahn’Qiraj. FL went immediately into AQ40 and defeated the first four bosses Prophet, Trio, Sarturus, and the Worm on the first day/night (incidentally, we clearned AQ20 the first night for a server first). The first stumbling block was Princess Huhuran who required a large amount of NR gear for the entire raid. We set out locating all the NR gear we could find, making number trips into Maraudon for the trinket, etc. Two days later we defeated Huhuran for the first time, but she continued to be a nuisance for a long time. We soon ran into a formidable obstacle, (besides the Obsidian guys) - the Twin Emperors. Our progress was stymied for four weeks while we continuously wiped on this boss, due to an array of stupid setbacks like drunken raiders, new healers, and people AFKing to move couches. During this down period however, we did manage to kill the trio each unique way, today that would be an achievement. Eventually we were successful against the Twin Emperors, and received the Kalimdor’s Revenge sword on the first kill.

Completing Ahn'Qiraj. After getting Twin Emperors on farm status, we had only 3 broken encounters left to choose from. Ouro and Viscidus were widely considered unkillable, as was C’thun. We spent most of the month of March making endless attempts on an unkillable C’thun, until Blizzard finally fixed the fight. We killed him soon afterwards. We then went on to kill Ouro, and despite not having any Poison Cleansing totems at the time, we killed Viscidus once, just enough to claim the kill. We continued to farm the instance for a long time to come.

Naxxramas. Many in the guild worked hard to farm the reputation to gain entry into Naxxramus, as well as the materials that were needed to construct the armor once we began getting armor tokens. Spider wing was the first to go down within a couple weeks, with Maexxna providing our first wing clear, followed by Plague wing after a lot of learning attempts on Heigen and Loatheb. Loatheb was a particularly horrible encounter due to the massive amount of farming that was necessary getting greater shadow protection potions as well as the life buff from Dire Maul for every kill every week. Patchwerk whom we had originally thought to be unkillable turned out to be one of the simplest yet most difficult fights we could imagine. With the correct strategy in hand, we defeated him only to watch laf the raid to to incredibly slow moving slimes afterwards. We bested Grobbulus that same night, and Gluth the following night. Thaddius would prove to be a major hurdle, as at the time Blizzard’s server because horribly laggy each time he cast polarity shift, unless you made the attempts at 3am, which we did. Eventually Blizzard hotfixed the fight, and we subsequently defeated him quickly. The only remaining wing was the Military, where we had endless enjoyment dealing with the overtuned Gothik fight. Even on our best nights, Gothik could always cause a wipe just due to the nature of the fight. The four horsemen fight was our bane, as it required 8 decently geared warrior tanks. Many in the guild sacrificed loot so that our DPS warrior could be quickly geared up in tier3. After several weeks of attempts at the four horsemen and some tinkering with mods, we defeated them.

Sapphiron & KT. We made a number of attempts on Sapphiron without potions etc over a weekend before deciding to throw all we had at him. Fully buffed with every tool in our arsenal, he seemed less formidable than we had assumed, and he fell. We began attempts on Kel’Thuzad, where our only hurdles were in handling the MCed players and the agro wipes that came with it. The ultimate kill proved very fulfilling, as we had once again defeated WoW, and claimed 2 full 9-piece Tier3 sets. Along with the kill, we received the final components to make two legendary staffs, owned by Dissonant and Bandsaw a transfer to our realm. After another couple months, we added a third legendary staff owned by Loerna.

As the days of classic WoW wound down, many players went in a variety of directions, but our accomplishments during this era set the firm foundation that FL has existed on ever since. The list of players that have worn the tabard of Forlorn Legacy is very long, but all the will come after must respect the accomplishments of those dedicated raiders who put FL on the map to stay.

Chapter 2 - The Burning Crusade Era
Kharazan to The Sunwell Plateau By Aurelius

The transition into The Burning Crusade expansion was extremely rough on the guild. Weeks prior to release Shantrel was promoted from member to Guild Master by Dissonant. Having never held a leadership position in the guild before he was initially unprepared to deal with the pressure of the job. Things took a turn for the worse during the levelin`g process, due to an injury, Shantrel was unable to level to 70 quickly.

A few days after release the speed levelers decided to form a the first 10 man Karazhan group. The group consisted of Perdrix, Aurelius, Hellsminion, Jacinthia, Keev, Wayde, Thereaper, Yemic, Kassien, Esdue and Pravox. Two resets later, Karazhan was clear, however...some minor drama began to show its ugly face in guild...

The guild's initial attitude towards 10 man instances was that they were unnecessary and extraneous. After a night on High King Maulgar in Gruul's Lair, we quickly realized how Blizzard wanted progression in TBC to work. Karazhan groups were organized and it became mandatory for all raiding members to attend. After a few more nights on High King Maulgar, he was defeated. Gruul was our next challenge, but at the time he was extremely difficult. Gruul's health was ridiculously high for an introductory raid boss, and his ground slam + shatter mechanic was extremely dangerous...but we perservered, Gruul was finally defeated. Angelic, our former raid leader who had quit pre-BC, returned. Shortly after, Magtheridon was also defeated.

Serpentshrine Cavern presented two problems - 1) Getting the whole guild attuned and 2) Dealing with the level of difficulty not only presented by the first boss, but the trash leading up to him, trash that took 20 minutes to kill and had a 45 minute respawn timer. Attunement to Serpentshrine Cavern required players to defeat Gruul and Nightbane, the obvious challenge there was getting everyone a Gruul kill. It was decided that due to the amount of consumables required, Gruul would only be killed to get players attuned.

Before Patch 2.1 was released, we killed 4 bosses in Serpentshrine Cavern and 2 bosses in Tempest Keep - Void Reaver, Hydross the Unsable, The Lurker Below, Morogrim Tidewalker and Fathom-Lord Karathress. Patch 2.1 changed the endgame considerably, consumables were nerfed, raid bosses were nerfed, raiding in general was nerfed, World of Warcraft was casual-ized.
